More About Brainspotting:

Brainspotting is a powerful yet often gentle, resourcing approach to working with the brain and body. It supports processing, release, and can often touch into the mysterious aspects of the psyche and healing.

Have you ever noticed that when you are trying to access a thought or a memory, you eyes often look away and in a particular direction?

Similar to EMDR, brainspotting is predicated on a connection between the eyes and the brain, and the brain and the body. Many people also appreciate that Brainspotting does not require a great deal of verbal processing to be helpful.

FAQ

  • These sessions are 2 hours and brings together a balance of group support and individual work and happens in 3 phases.

    For the first portion we will learn brainspotting basics and each person will identify the belief they are working with.

    We will then brainspot together as a group. Each person is in their own process/experience as a I guide us through.

    Finally we will come back and share experiences, support one another and create action plans based on what you experienced.

  • Prior to the group I will help you identify a belief that you may want to work with. I will send out a “Belief Basics” worksheet to help you with that.

    And you may 100% already know the thing you can telling yourself about yourself that deep down you know is just a belief, and impacting your life.

  • You will need to work with only 1 per session. However, I am offering 4 of these and so you can keep working on the same belief each time, or bring a different one each time.

  • It is not! While there are some similarities in terms of eye position and working with the brain and body, I find it to be much more gentle, and each person tends to move at their own wise-pace.

  • So great you have done it 1:1 as that will really help you jump in with ease!

    In the group setting the process includes the group support and wisdom for working with our beliefs.

    In terms of doing the actual brainspotting process, people will find their own unique brainspot location as I guide the discovery process. In some ways, it will really help folks be able to brainspot on their own and integrate this practice into daily life for release and resourcing.

  • Be sure to have a comfy, quite and private space for the session.

    Using a computer is much easier than the phone for participation in the group and process.

    Identify a belief you want to work with. If you do not have one I can help you with that.

    You can study up on brainspotting though I find the youtube videos only so-so and focus mostly on working with trauma, which we will not be doing. I recommend checking out the Rocky Mountain Brainspotting Institue.

    If it is possible for you to reserve some time afterwards to journal or go for a walk that’s wonderful!
